Geraldine’s professional background is in corporate and commercial law, having been called to the Nigerian Bar 34 years ago armed with a Masters Degree in Law from the University of London in those fields.
After a career in academics in the Faculty of Law, University of Calabar spanning 5 years, she crossed over to the banking and financial services sub-sector honing her capacities and competencies as a banker for 15 years. She also has a strong background in conducting management and legal training and in providing financial advisory services post her banking career.
Her sojourn in government exposed her additionally to the Nigerian political landscape, honing her ability to navigate this terrain with balance and to support the promotion of inclusive governance.
Her main interests are reading as widely as possible, travelling and experiencing other cultures and engaging with people, especially young people. One of her core beliefs is that these pursuits, besides being enjoyable, actually help an individual, in this case herself, to become more of a human being in order to give increasing value to others.
